My recent move

Filed under: This Blog — Larry Sanger @ 8:43 am

This blog has been silent because I’ve been moving cross-country, back to central Ohio–a nice little town not far from Columbus called Pataskala.  The Bay Area obviously has lots to offer, but the cost of living is so much more attractive here in Ohio.  Given that, together with the fact that I’ve got roots here that I don’t have in the Bay Area, my wife and I felt that Ohio was calling us back–so here we are.  My new home office looks out on a very pleasant little creek.

But as a result, I’m afraid I am only slowly getting back to work.  Unpacking and getting settled with a 7-month-old baby in the house poses unforeseen challenges!

Nevertheless, the wiki has been rolling along pretty well without me, which is a relief.  But I won’t stop until this thing is really booming in Wikipedia fashion.  I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.  Just watch.

I can tell you that we’re going to take our next step toward a fully public launch quite soon (but no, I have no dates I care to announce yet :) ).  We’re also going to have several other new announcements to make as well.  I’d rather not give details for a selfish reason–if I were to give the details, then press people would be asking for new interviews, and I need to focus on work, not PR.  Press people should contact Maggie: maggie at fortythreepr dot com.  (FortythreePR is offering their services to the Citizendium Foundation gratis for the present.  They’re very nice folks and really good at what they do.)

Also, I can tell you that within the next month I’m going to be in Bonn, Germany for the Handelsblatt conference and then in San Diego, California for the Kintera user conference, giving two keynotes, the first about the use of wikis to organize professional communities, the second about the use of wikis by nonprofits.
