Hoi,
Because of your requirements of having a PHD you have effectively destroyed my interest in doing anything for your project. Your argument that you have to have one is one I will not dispute. It is your premise for doing your thing. However, there are sufficient people who are acknowledged experts in what they do that they do not need a PHD to establish their reputation as a real world "expert".

In the same way, as I cannot be in, I am out. This includes organisational stuff. You cannot have it both ways.

PS You are learning the Wikipedia lesson I notice...

Thanks,
    GerardM

Gerard, you don't have to have a Ph.D. to participate. What on Earth gave you that idea? Most of our contributors, who are authors, don't have one. Indeed, a Ph.D. is not even an absolutely necessary requirement for being an editor. It depends on the field, and other means of proving your knowledge can suffice. But we can't just take your word for it, if that's what you wanted us to do.

As to the "Wikipedia lesson," my friend, as co-founder of Wikipedia, I am as responsible as anyone for teaching that lesson to the world. It's just that my understanding of the requirements of a good encyclopedia project are now more sophisticated.

Congratulations to you and all the contributors on the launch of Citizendium! It looks great and I am sure it will be a great success!

"Bottom-up leadership". Hhhhmmmmm.

I'm not sure about the name, but I understand the intention, and like your willingness for others to act on their initiative.

Someone I used to work with considered 'bottom-up leadership' as taking workmates to the pub to have a piss-up. But perhaps that was 'bottoms-up', i.e. plural.
