Linux may mean:
- Linux (operating system): A free and open source operating system kernel designed by Linus Torvalds. The kernel is typically augmented by a plethora of other software, creating a Linux distribution.
- Linux kernel: The core piece of the Linux operating system that controls processes, manages memory, and loads device drivers.
- Linux distribution: A version of Linux comprised of the Linux kernel, all or part of the GNU operating system, and assorted other software.
Many also confuse the Linux kernel, and the Linux operating systems, with Linus Torvalds, the creator and maintainer of the Linux kernel.
